Class 2/3 InformationFAX Forms For Quick Transfers How ToA class 1/2/3 FFL can fill out a BATF signature affidavit which when sent to BATF by US Mail, will allow future form 2/3/5 forms to be Faxed in rather than sent in via US mail, thus speeding up the transfer to roughly 30 days. TIP: When Faxing forms, make sure 2 copies of the Faxed form are included, just like you include 2 copies of the form when submitting via US Mail. This will increase the speed of transfer. The following overview is for Class 2 manufacturers (Type 07/SOT).Bound BooksHow Many Bound Books? You can have 1 or more bound books, there are no limits on how many. It is common for a C2 to have 1 for title 1 firearms and 1 or more for title 2 firearms. You can have one for suppressors, another for machine guns, another for everything else. If you plan on making a lot of suppressors, you could have one for each model of suppressors. If you get a lot of firearms from a manufacturer that you then convert, you could have a bound book for that manufacturer only. If you will be making 150+ of one model, a bound book would be advisable. Bottom line, make it manageable. What is Required In a Bound Book?Read the regulations 27 CFR 178.122, figure 1. Marking FirearmsThis information is a summary of the required regulations. Read the regulations 27 CFR 178 How Do I Mark?27 CFR 178.92 requires licensed importers and manufacturers to conspicuously place the following identification markings on the frame, receiver, or barrel of each firearm imported or manufactured in a manner not susceptible of being readily obliterated, altered, or removed:
The same marking requirements appear in regulations issued under the National Firearms Act at 27 CFR 179.102. Semi-automatic Assault FirearmsIn the case of any semiautomatic assault weapon manufactured after September 13, 1994, the regulations also require that the frame or receiver be marked "RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT/GOVERNMENT USE ONLY" or, in the case of weapons manufactured for export, "FOR EXPORT ONLY" (27 CFR 178.92(a)(2)). How Deep and High For Markings?Serial Number: A minimum height of 1/16 inch and a minimum depth of .003 inch for serial numbers. All other requires markings: A minimum depth of .003 inch for all other required markings with no height limitation. Exceptions
