IMPORTANT
NOTE
To install FIRSH, you must be able to remove the front site
and muzzle brake, if you have one. If you have a permanent mounted
muzzle brake it would have to be removed by a gunsmith, before the
front site could be slid off the barrel.
| First we start with a one piece aluminum 6061 T6 extruded tube that is
formed under pressure and heat for strength. You can see from the
picture on the right that the rails are not a separate part from the
tube, the rails are part of the tube! This is what makes
the Oly rail handguard system different from all the rest. It is
strong, durable and versatile.
Additionally, installation of this handguard WILL NOT
interfere with the gas tube, like some of the other manufacturers
handguards do.

When the rail system handguard is mounted onto a flat top upper you
have a look that is smooth, and continuous.

| From this photo, one can see the unique locking nut system developed
by Olympic's in house inspector Paul Stevens. By the using of a small
slot cut in the tube itself at the base of the handguard over the
barrel nut, and the use of a small hex-head screw system, the rail
system handguard can be locked into place without the worry of it
coming loose while firing, or working from a prone position like some
other handguards do that utilize a "locking ring" system.
